What about Virtuals?

I wish that they would bring back virtuals or give a cache credit for finding waymarks ( or is it waymakers?). I usually learn something that I didn't know before by doing a virtual in a certain area. It's like a mini History lesson.
That's why they're fun!

I agree. If we could get credit for them I would do more. I am looking at at least putting the one's I find in my Geocaching page.

not sure i understand this correctly. my son did a virtual up in presque isle and i logged it. he got a 'find' for it. the way i understand it, the virtuals out there are grandfathered in and count, but you can't "place" any NEW virtual caches. is that what you guys are talking about? am i misunderstanding something?

Yea, virtual caches are grandfathered in, but there is also a web page WWW.Waymarking.com that is like vertuals. If you are a premium member of Geocaching, you are a premium member of Waymarking too. So take a look around, it is a lot of fun.

When they made Waymarking they kill the virtuals on geocaching.com. The one that had already been done were aloud to stay. They moved virtuals over to Waymarking. From what I understand from some of the hints left in the forums at Geocaching.com they are looking at making both side much easier to use. With combined totals. (I think)

But as to when this happens is any ones guess. They have too much work now.

I also would like Virtual to be brought back as there are many places that you can not put a cache. So these would be good for those places. But I do not think this will happen.
