Goodie Bag?

Goodie Bag?
I know BigDaddy Mark has assembled a backpack with everything from extra batteries to a suture kit! Here's what I'm going to do:
While hiking in the PA mountains last week (private property, no caches), I was playing around with my Garmin 76 keeping track of our group's adventure, and I got tired of holding my GPS. I wanted to put it in one of the pockets in my fishing/canoeing vest but all of the pockets were too small. I was afraid it would fall out during the hike.
I was eventually able to attach the lanyard to the vest and stick the GPS in a pocket a little more than half way. Both hands were free to help navigate the terrain. I was pretty happy with the result and have decided to convert the vest to a geocaching vest.
There are plenty of pockets for spare batteries, travel bugs, coins, chap stick, water, bug spray, pencils, first aid, etc. And I'll still be able to use the vest while canoeing.

Re: Goodie Bag?
I don't usually do very long hikes so my cargo pants have enough room for me. I do have a large fanny pack and a backpack I can use if needed.

Re: Goodie Bag?
OK, here is a list of what I always carry in my day pack.
1st aid kit
Suture Kit
Ice Pack
Large Bandage
Small Bandage
various band-aids
Butterfly band-aids
Burn Gel
Antibiotic Gel
Antibiotic Wipes
Rubber Gloves
CPR Mask
Tweezers
Nail Clippers
Poison Ivy stuff
Then my wooden nickles, extra batteries, army men, travel Bugs, Geocoins, a compass, and various swag.
Then this bag will zips onto my large bag, so if I plan on doing anything stupid I can use them both.
I wasn't a Boy Scout, but I like to be prepared, but most of the time the bag sits in the back of the Geo~Fit, and I just take what I need with me.

Goodie Bag
I always think you should have a couple of bottles of water or a canteen for geocaching. I always get a little parched on the trail.
Another few items to bring would be some candy bars or some kind of fruit, like apples and grapes.

Re: Goodie Bag?
I have a kind of fanny pack (I'm looking for something that's as convenient, but more 'macho' - honest!)
I'm kind of looking at photographers' vests, but haven't found one yet that looks "right." I carry poison ivy stuff - Tecnu is the brand, and it works better than anything else I've found. I also carry tweezers and a mirror on a wand. I find these two items very handy for finding and retrieving micros. I have a pair of gloves - you never know what you'll have to stick your hand into! And band aids and a small flashlight, too. And of course, trinkets and trade stuff.

Re: Goodie Bag?
wow! and i thought i was prepared!! i thought the gloves were pretty funny until ed mentioned the "never know what you're going to have to stick your hands into." suddenly i see the need for gloves!!! i didn't like geocaching with all the leaves on the ground, kept imagining all the bugs that can hide in there! not to mention all the bugs hiding in the parking lot lights! i gotta get me some gloves! the only thing i may be able to offer as an idea is actually my mom's idea. it's a business card with a quick description of geocaching from geocaching.com that may help if questioned by a policeman or other muggle. already been a problem with my mom!
gonna have to go upgrade my geobag now! thanks for all the great ideas!

OH YEA, You need a pair of gloves. You never know when a groundhog, or an owl may be hiding in one of those holes in the tree. LOL Seriously an owl flew down my arm, and scared the begebers out of me.
