What GPS do you use?
I am using a Garmin Colorado. At first I thought it was a little clunky, but now that I am getting use to it I think I love it.
I like the paperless feature, but I never use the direct download. I still use GSAK to organize everything, then I send it (Upload or Download I am never sure what that is called) to the GPS.
I also use a Nuvi 200W in the car. It is very clunkey getting to the cache, but if you look at the map instead of letting the Star Trek voice tell you where to go you are much better off. There is a macro for GSAK (premium members only) that will convert GPX files into a Nuvi tour. With this you can view descriptions, logs, hints. It is nice to have the Nuvi paperless in the car and the Colorado paperless in the field. I load everything on a 1gig SD card, and then just pop it in when I go caching. Very convenient upload.

Re: What GPS do you use?
I also use GSAK.
I use a Garmin Vista C for my hand held GPS.
In the Car I use a TomTom One V3. In GSAK I have found a Macro that sorts and download into the TomTom the selected caches into their categories. (Micro, Traditional, Puzzle, Earthcache, Etc). I use the TomTom to get me as close as roads can then use the Vista C to finish it off.
I also have a Garmin GPS V, GPS III+. These I used in the past now are retired.
I hope this helps

I use a micro for my Nuvi to do the same thing

No it does not add anything else in it.
I do go paperless. I have a PDA the I load with the cache information.
Thanks

Re: What GPS do you use?
I also have a Mio-Tech C230 GPSr for the car. This one also says the street name. I was getting to like it when it died now it is on its way back to Mio-Tech for repair.
This GPSr can be opened up and turning into a GPSr equipped PDA type system.
The Mio's are also cheap.
They just do not talk to a Vista machine and only talk to an XP system.

Re: What GPS do you use?
Well the Maggy 500 is a good unit. I have seen many cachers with that type of unit out caching.
Right now if I had the money to buy a new GPSr I would go with the Delorme PN-20 (I have seen this unit for ~$150) But would wait for a few months as they are coming out with the PN-40.
They come with full US Topo & street maps. Plus you can download satellite pictures to it. And many other maps.
Well I hope this helps

Re: What GPS do you use?
Yes you can search for Delorme and get onto their web site to find more out about the PN-20 & PN-40.
Also their is forum thread on GC.com about the PN-40.
If I had the money I would get the PN-40.

Re: What GPS do you use?
I purchased a Delorme PN-40 a few weeks ago. I am really getting to really like this machine. It is great. The firmware update has done it great things.
Thanks

Re: What GPS do you use?
I just got a Garmin Venture HC yesterday, haven't used it in the field yet but it will obtain GPS sats inside, much better than the Garmin GPS12 I was using! I also have a Palm Zire 31 with Cachemate on it so I can go paperless and even in color LOL!
I actually have another Palm I bought off e-bay that I bought when I couldn't find the other one. It is a Palm IIIx. Is there a place to post for sale items on here?
Someone mentioned loading caches into a Tom Tom and I tried that and couldn't get it to work. Any help on that would be greatly appreciated. I have a Tom Tom 130.

Re: What GPS do you use?
Hello KD8DEL, Nice name as my name is also Paul.
As to TomTom. Do you have GSAK? If you do you can export the current DB in a TomTom POI file (File -> Export -> TomTom) and the files will go into the USA and Canada directory on the TomTom.
Hope that helps
